High-tech LED compilation December 28 news, LightSavers is an international project for the purpose of evaluating LED lighting and outdoor intelligent control, the project was initiated by the Climate Group at the UN climate conference in Copenhagen.
LightSavers will test the performance of LEDs and intelligent controls in real-world applications, while working with members to expand the scale and encourage LED-friendly policies and financing products.
According to the Climate Group, LED luminaires and intelligent controls can control 50-70% of carbon emissions. LED lighting can reduce costs, improve public safety, minimize light pollution, and make nights in public spaces more beautiful.
The project was launched jointly by the City of Toronto and the Toronto Atmosphere Foundation, which is operating a series of local projects. LightSavers was founded by the HSBC Climate Partnership.
LightSavers launched an experiment to test the efficiency and cost savings of outdoor LED lighting in multiple cities around the world. It has been launched in cities such as Adelaide, Guiyang, Hong Kong, Kolkata, London, Mumbai, New York, Tianjin and Toronto.
The City launched the program in September 2009. See "LED Engineering Will Make New York "Big Apple" Rejuvenate Green"
Climate Group is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to working with governments and industry organizations around the world to promote friendly policies and technologies to reduce global emissions and accelerate low-carbon economies.
At the Copenhagen meeting, 40 mayors spoke in support of the LightSavers project. London City Mayor Boris Johnson said that the City of London is happy to work with the Climate Group to promote the experimentation and popularization of energy-efficient street lights.
“There is a great potential to reduce carbon emissions in cities. The Energy Conservation New Technology Act is also a large number. Through cooperation, we can promote the development of green technologies and reduce procurement costs. We are taking an ambitious plan to reduce London’s carbon emissions by 60% in 2025. The action plan includes the installation of 3,000 LED traffic lights in 2010.
