Apple A10 chip defect exposure sounds high load operation

Tencent Digital (Wen Xin) According to 9to5Mac website, as with most new iPhone models, iPhone 7 also had some problems on the day of release, but most of these problems are harmless. Today, some iPhone 7 users noticed that when the new A10 Fusion processor was running at a high load, their phones would make a strange buzz.

The first thing to notice this issue is Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels: iPhone 7 seems to make a noticeable buzz when it is running at high loads. Hackett uploaded a video of YouTube 7 buzzing to YouTube, which sounds like white noise or a buzzing sound when the speakers are connected badly.

The Hackett complaint was confirmed by other users, including former Apple PR staffer and TechCrunch writer Darrell Etherington, who noticed the iPhone 7 Plus buzzing during the setup process.

9to5Mac said that it is generally believed that the buzz is related to the A10 Fusion processor because it only appears when the device is running at a high load, and it obviously comes from where the processor is located. According to netizens who have encountered this problem, the buzz is similar to that of a notebook fan, and there is obviously no fan inside the iPhone 7. This is also a cause of headaches for this issue. Given that the iPhone is a device with a relatively low processing power, it makes this sound unusual outside of speaker noise.

At present, it is unclear whether the buzz issue affects all iPhone 7/Plus phones or only some phones. If it is the latter, this may be a quality control issue related to early product production; if it belongs to the former, it could theoretically be related to some kind of heat dissipation method used by Apple.

9to5Mac stated that Apple’s customer department’s response to Hackett also suggested that the issue was a defect. Hackett reported to Apple's customer service that he had encountered problems and was told to change his phone at the Apple Store — although the store's inventory is limited.

The iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with a quad-core A10 Fusion chip and an M10 motion coprocessor. The A10 Fusion integrates two high-performance cores and two high-performance-ratio cores. The new performance control device can schedule the running kernel in real time, balancing the performance and battery life.
