The enraptured but snarky start-up company Magic Leap has heard new news: They established a content creation team led by famous science fiction author Neal Stephenson in a new office in Seattle.
Magic Leap
It is reported that Magic Leap has completed the construction of necessary facilities of the company in Seattle and has also moved away from the temporary office. The company's CSO and co-founder Brian Schowengerdt is currently working in Seattle and a number of research projects are also taking place locally.
Neal Stephenson
Stephenson has been named "Chief Futurist" of Magic Leap since 2014. He once wrote "Snow Crash," the first cyberpunk novel featuring network personality and initial VR cues. He is currently creating content for Magic Leap's unannounced products in Seattle.
Stephenson also recruited many talents for the company. For example, Subutai, a key member of his previous game studio, is now a design producer in the Seattle office.
In 2012, Stephenson raised more than half a million dollars on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter and wanted to create a personalized handle sword fighting PC game named "Clang", but it was finally dead.
And Magic Leap is said to be holding a sword that appeared in Tolkien's The Hobbit: Orcrist found him—“Somebody is holding a mythical sword at your door. This is What's new. I'm just like many fans of fantasy fantasies who open the door to let them in. They brought me a contract,†Stephenson recalled on his blog.
Currently, Magic Leap’s office in Seattle has recruited members who have worked at Microsoft, Valve, and Amazon. It is understood that the company also has content projects in Florida, New Zealand, Los Angeles, Dallas and Texas, and these locations are recruiting people, so there is no need to go to the headquarters in Florida.
As for what exactly is Stephenson's project in development? A current Magic Leap spokesman said “no commentâ€.
