According to the Reuters in most people's perception, the mask is part of a child's toy. But if you look at this flexible LED mask that recently landed on crowdfunding, you will find that the mask can actually be cool.

This series of LED masks developed by the startup Outline Montréal has a lot of cool features, the most eye-catching of which is its hearing ability. When the surrounding sounds (such as loud electronic music) are detected, the color, brightness, and strobe modes of the mask change accordingly.

The illuminating power of these LED masks is achieved by the combination of phosphor ink and regulators. Phosphorus ink is a material that is extremely low in energy consumption, does not generate heat, and is brilliant in light. It is also the material of choice for many watches that light up the dial.

In use, the regulator converts the sound waves into different lighting effects. This regulator is driven by a lithium battery, but it is very small in weight and volume and does not put too much burden on the wear.

What's more, these masks are available in a variety of different styles, including face, large cats (like leopards), nursing and orangutans.

The LED mask is currently being crowdfunded at Kickstarter for $30 (about RMB 150).
