The research and development of this optical path retardation calibration sheet is mainly applied to the calibration of Sharp Edge Stress Instrument (Ref.S-67).
And, this calibration sheet can also be applied to the calibration of Sharp polarized light stress meter.
When used to calibrate edge stressors, this calibration sheet ensures that the operator is more confident in the accuracy of repeated measurements.
In contrast to our other optical path retardance calibration patches (with uniform path length retardation), the new calibration patch appears with a fringe pattern similar to that in the laminated windshield. That is, there is an increasing compressive stress value at the edge of the calibration piece and a slight tensile stress at the other edge.
The retardation of the optical path needs to be measured at four different locations (referenced as A, B, C, and D) with the largest compressive stress at the edge A.
The calibration sheet is included in the verification.
When measuring the actual value of birefringence (tensile stress), rotate the analyzer counterclockwise until the point of measurement shows a maximum “dark colorâ€.
When measuring the maximum compressive stress (at point A), turn the analyzer clockwise until the center of the stripe is at the edge of the sample.
This pathlength hysteresis calibration chip is placed in a small chassis.
