Hon Hai plans to invest US$1 billion to set up an optoelectronic R&D center in Japan

It is reported that Hon Hai plans to set up an optoelectronic R&D center in Japan to develop the latest generation of display technology, materials, processes, etc. It is expected to be established in 2013, and plans to set up R&D centers in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2013, it will spend at least $1 billion in research and development funding, and will focus on display development, including key technologies for display technology, optics, touch and other products.

At this stage, Hon Hai has set up a product R&D center for displays in Taiwan and the mainland. In addition, Hon Hai has R&D centers in San Jose, USA and East Boston, USA, and a software cloud R&D center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. There is an e-commerce and R&D center in Shanghai headquarters.
