Rising Knowledge: 9 Unknown Apple Park Details

Apple's new headquarters has been officially named "Apple Park", but we still have many details to understand about this huge grand building. Timm Borden, Head of Public Works, and Senior Civil Engineer David Stillman of Cupertino recently shared with us nine details not known about Apple Park.

- It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the main ring building.

- Apple will pay $1.3 million to the Valley Transportation Authority and the California Department of Transportation to "help reduce its impact on the highway."

- The Valley Valley Transportation Authority has allocated US$750,000 to resolve traffic-related issues around Apple Park.

- Apple will place 1,000 bicycles for employees to use in the park.

- There will be 2000 bicycle parking spaces throughout Apple Park.

- Apple currently has a "28% transportation demand management rate" at its Infinite Loop headquarters. In other words, 28% of Apple's employees will choose different means of transportation to go to work instead of occupying a single car.

- Cupertino is planning to do the same for Apple Park and hopes to increase the figure to 34%. The report said that if Apple can't reach this number, it may be punished. It's unclear how much money will be punished.

- Apple Park does not plan to close other offices after the park opened. Apple currently has offices in Cupertino, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Santa Clara.

- Hewlett-Packard once owned this site, when 30% of the area was used for landscaping, and 70% of the area was used for the construction of parking lots and buildings. The opposite is true for apples: 70% is used for landscaping and 30% for architectural coverage.
