MStar set-top box chip is authorized by CRI security technology

Taiwan ’s semiconductor company MStar said that its set-top box SoC chip was authorized by CRI (Cryptography Research Inc.) encryption technology on Tuesday (September 6), which is a branch of Rambus.

MStar said (Taiwan Hsinchu) will add CRI's CyrptoFirewall technology to its chips to help customers achieve hardware security for set-top boxes.

CRI (San Francisco) said that the core of CryptoFirewall is a hardware-based on-chip security protection module that protects encryption keys and computing instructions from attacks. The CryptoFirewall core has now successfully benefited more than 1 million devices. It can prevent theft of pay TV signals and simplify the anti-piracy requirements of program content owners.
