First of all, the ordinary plc cannot be used for security control, and the safety PLC used for security control must obtain the certifications of the international standards IEC61508 and ISO13849. In general, in order to meet the above requirements, the safety PLC needs to have (but is not limited to) the following features:

(1) including the MPU and its peripheral circuits, internal redundancy (two-way);

(2) Parallel processing of data and mutual detection;

(3) Data redundancy;

(4) Data CRC code protection;

(5) Time monitoring, monitoring/checking of execution sequence;

(6) Internal self-diagnosis.
